onion drying shed as it looked in 1930. This structure was located on Pine
Street near Central Road. From the 1870s through the turn of the century,
onions were one of Mount Prospect's primary crops. Many similar sheds then
occupied the triangle of land bounded by Northwest Highway, Central Road,
and Elmhurst Road. |

shown are not identified. The building with the tavern was also known as
Wille Hall. Here the members of the Mount Prospect Improvement Association
and students of the Township High School gathered. Area residents also
came here for dances and Saturday morning movies. This structure most recently housed
the Dugout Military Inc. store. |
