IRS Free File program provides free tax preparation software and electronic filing to taxpayers with an adjusted gross income of $52,000 or less. (About 70% of taxpayers qualify to use this program.) Some offer the program in Spanish and also offer state returns for free.

Village of Mount Prospect
Mt. Prospect Human Services Dept. provides free income tax assistance for those over the age of sixty. Trained volunteer counselors will assist in preparing Federal and State tax forms. Appointments are required. Call 847-870-5680 for more information. NOTE: A separate appointment must be scheduled for assistance with the Illinois Circuit Breaker application.
