Do You Download?
Download audiobooks, ebooks or videos to your computer and transfer them to a portable player. There are never overdue items or late fees – titles automatically return to the Library’s collection when due.
Steps to Download
- Go to www.mppl.org/books/download
- Click on
- Select a title for download.
- Click add to cart.
- Click Proceed to Checkout.
- On Sign In page, choose Mount Prospect Public Library.
- Enter Library Card number (14 digits, no spaces)
- Once logged in, click Confirm Checkout.
- Before downloading to computer, OverDrive Media Console must be installed. Click the provided link and follow instructions. This only needs to be done once.
- Click the Download icon under the book cover art.
- Dialog box will appear. Choose save and click OK.
- Downloads box will appear. Double-click on title of book.
- Get Media box will appear. Remember to check where files are being saved. Click OK.
- Choose as many parts as wish to download at one time. Click OK.
To Transfer a Title
- In the OverDrive Media Console, Click the Transfer button on the toolbar.
- The Transfer Wizard dialog box will open.
- Connect your portable device to your computer.
- Click Next on the Transfer Wizard dialog box.
- Select the Parts you wish to transfer to your device.
- After files are transferred, disconnect your portable player.
Downloading Tips
- A video tutorial is available on www.mppl.org/books/download
- A Mount Prospect Library Card in good standing is needed to access the service. Visit the Library to register.
- Depending on Internet connection, a complete download may take over an hour. Remember, you can download parts at a time.
- All books checked out will appear in the OverDrive Media Console. You will use the OMC to manage checked out materials, to download subsequent parts, and to play audiobooks on your computer.
