Web Site Terms of Use
The notice has two purposes:
- To inform patrons about online privacy at the Mount Prospect Public Library’s Web site
- To notify patrons about the terms and conditions governing use of the Mount Prospect Public Library Web site
Per our privacy policy, all patron-identifiable information is confidential, unless patrons choose to share information in a public forum. Mount Prospect Public Library collects no personal information about you when you visit this Web site unless you choose to provide that information.
Nothing is ever completely confidential on the Internet and the Library assumes no responsibility for information obtained illegally.
IP Address Use
We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer and create generalized statistics on our Web site. We may also use an IP address to block abusive users of public forums.
Search Statistics
Search results show whether the Library Web site contains the kinds of information its visitors seek. These results are not linked to domain, IP, or browser data.
Submission Forms / Email / Chat Sessions
Our site's contact forms require patrons to give us contact information. Contact information is used when staff needs to reach the patron upon the patron's initial request. At no time will your contact information be sold, traded, leased or lent to third party vendors. Email messages sent to the Library are stored on a password protected system. Chat sessions may be logged.
Open Record Laws
Information collected automatically on the Library Web site, as well as e-mail sent to the Library, is generally subject to state open record laws except as provided by Illinois or federal law.
Public Forums (including Blogs and Online Displays)
Any content or information that is disclosed in a blog or similar public forum, or included in an online display hosted by the Library becomes public information and a patron should therefore exercise caution when deciding to disclose content or personal information in such places. For patron protection, Library staff will make an attempt to monitor public forums and modify posts to remove individually identifiable information but cannot guarantee such modifications. When provided, first names will be used to identify patrons.
Information from Children
Parents and guardians are solely responsible for a child’s online activities. The Library recommends children obtain permission from parents and guardians before sharing information on the Library Web site.
Cookies
The Library uses session cookies to enable use of the site, and does not use permanent cookies. The Library provides access to third party commercial and public databases, some of which do require the use of cookies. The use of cookies for third party databases is governed by the database provider's requirements and policies.
