Public Art at MPPL

The Library is proud to showcase several fine art pieces in the building. Please take a few minutes to enjoy the various works throughout the Library in person or online.
What is public art? It is any work of art created by an artist for a specific public space. Public art has the power to energize a community, arouse our thinking, and transform our environment into a more welcoming and beautiful place. Public art invites interaction; it can get strangers talking, children asking questions, and calm a hurried life.
Since 2005, the Library has been implementing an art initiative focused on creating an environment that would stimulate conversation, stir the imagination, and inspire all who come across it. The plan, developed and executed by Corporate Artworks, was designed to complement the building and the Library’s mission.
This guide provides a brief introduction to our collection that has been made possible, in part, by donations from residents, community groups, the Foundation, and the Friends of the Library. The works reflect a variety of aesthetic expressions across a range of media.
